We met in college at Florida A&M University during our sophomore year. We were very close friends but never dated. Though we spent a great deal of time together we were in different places in our lives. Keeping in contact over the years, we became increasingly interested in one another. When we were both single, we reconnected and began dating long-distance (Carissa in Cincinnati then Atlanta and Coy in Orlando). With one of us relocated to Atlanta we began driving the long, six-hour distance from Orlando to Atlanta, every chance we could get. We dated over the distance for over a years time, using all of our frequent flyer miles and excess cash to be together for even a few days. In March of 2004 we chose to settle down in Orlando and are happily building our lives together.
